Note
that the plaid pattern on the ties are slightly offset from plaid pattern
on the flat sections. This was a mistake which actually makes the finished
treatment more interesting.
I cut
all pieces very carefully, making sure the pattern fell at the same point
on each piece, measured from the bottom. Once assembled, I realized that
the ties should have been cut longer at the bottom, not the top, for the
pattern to remain consistent across the valance.
